This scholarship honors the legacy of a trailblazer, educator, pastor, and community leader who dedicated his life to breaking barriers and uplifting others. As one of the first African American students to integrate Western Kentucky University and later one of its first Black professors, John E. Jones led with integrity, excellence, and compassion. This award recognizes a student who has maintained a grade point average of 3.2 or higher, demonstrates leadership, resilience, and a commitment to creating positive change in their community.

This scholarship celebrates the legacy of Alma and Bobby Marshall and their lifelong dedication to children, education, and community service. After meeting at Virginia Union University, they devoted their careers to serving others through the Department of Recreation and Thompson Elementary School. This award honors a student who exemplifies leadership, a strong work ethic, compassion, and a meaningful commitment to their community.
